Teachers~

So today we found out the kids teachers. This is always a big deal in our house. Now I have 4 kids in the same school! This will be the only year for that. Years before and now for the years after I will have run to 2-3 different schools to drop off and pick up. Right now they actually are taking our 2 lane road and making it 4 lanes. Only good thing is I live about 1/2 mile from the school and they just put in sidewalks from the start of our housing area to the school! Wahooooooo!!!!! I can walk to take them and walk to pick them up!!! I have always wanted to do that but it was always these big ditches with no sidewalks and we couldn't do it. Now with all 4 in school all day....well from 8:30 to 2:30 I am going to try to join the Gym and start working out again! I was doing a good job working out every winter, but here it is just too HOT and HUMID to do anything in the summer! Even early AM is like insanly HOT!!!!! Can't wait for that.
So back to the teachers..............I am very involved with my kids so teachers are key! Well we have been very blessed to get great teachers most of the time! My kids are all straight A students, very good kids......if they ever get in trouble it's for talking too much!!!! Imagine that???? Anyway Ali's 4th grade teacher was awesome.....but they changed classes between 3 teachers and we had problems with one of them. She would just loose papers, mark things wrong that were not wrong, and seriously give too much homework. 4 hours a night worth and my daughter had no problems with anything it just took 4 hours! But when asked what they did in class we were told she sits on the computer and then gives all the work to the kids to do at home. She never explained anything either....we sat with her at night and taught her from the book. Science! Thank Gosh that's what we know best! I don't know who wrote some of these Florida text books but I don't know if they even had a degree!!!! They are horrrible! Anyway......this same teacher is now a 6th grade teacher and guess what??? Ali got her this year!!!!! God help me! Please don't get me wrong. I love and respect teachers. I always treat them with respect and appreciate them. I am a very involved parent, I care but I am also not one of these crazy over-involved mothers! So now I struggle with going up there and changing her teacher, if they will even let me....I heard it takes an act of Congress to get it changed....or do I let it be and just deal with another year of pure Hell like 2 years ago????? I don't want to teach my kids that you can just go and whine about things and get your way, but I do want what's best for my daughter. It's only 6th grade...........but she was so sick of 4th grade because of that teacher...I don't want her to start hating school! But that is life right???? I mean I know I hated some of my teachers!!!! I can't homeschool her, she is a social butterfly and that would kill her. So not sure what to do.....Thinking I will just see what happens and try to work with what happens and then if it gets bad again I might go up there and say something. Ugh.........well the other kids think their teachers are ok. 1 new one we never heard of but that could be a good thing! So I have one in K, 2nd, 4th, and 6th!!!! Oye vey! I hope it will be a good year. It was really hard for us coming from the European school system to Florida's but we have finally adjusted I think. Well here's to a good year! :-)
